District Staff Officer for Aids to Navigation
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plays a major role in the safe and conscientious conduct of AtoN, Bridge and CU programs within the District
2. To establish liaison and good working relationships with the District (oan) and auxiliary units within the district
3. To ensure that each Auxiliary unit is receiving adequate operational support
4. To provide support, advice, and counsel to the Division AN officers within the district by
Facilitating communication up and down the chain
Apprising Division AN officers of changes to Operational Policies and Procedures in a timely manner
Following-up with Division AN Officers as needed to ensure clarity and compliance
5. Prodvide leadership, management and training for programs with District (oan), Bridge Admin, and DIRAUX
6. Ensure conformance to:
OPS Policy Manual
CGMOU
Bridge Administration MOU
NOAA-NOS MOA
AtoN & CU Guide
7. Establish annual OPS goals and objectives in conjunction with:
District (oan)
local ANT and Coast Guard Units
Ensure Bridge Administration needs are met
Ensure NOAA-NOS CU needs are met
8. In conjunction with District (oan) & DIRAUX, provide regularly scheduled review and assessment of program status
considering the following:
9. In connection with District (oan) & DIRAUX provide assessment of AtoN verifiers qualification and status with respect to:
Annual Currency Maintenance
Five year currency retesting
10. Provide to Division AN officers within the District:
Appropriate and adequate ATON and CU training
Workshops (as needed)
Advice (as needed) when information is requested from either National Staff or Auxiliary units
11. Provide regular and complete reorts to:
Vice Commodore
Division AN Officers
National Aids to Navigation Division Chief (DVC-ON)
12. Present updated information on ATON & CU activity to the District Board and District (oan)
