About the Course(s)

Aux 17 - This 1-day training is normally combined with AUX-18 as part of a two-day session in Pensacola. AUX-17 is a mandatory one-time formal training session in Crew Resource Management for Auxiliary pilots, with further annual updates at local aviation workshops. This course teaches air crew members how to better communicate, how to avoid “roadblocks” to safe operations, and to quantify and analyze risk.

Aux 18-All Auxiliary pilots are required to complete a one-time Spatial Disorientation session that will be part of standard Auxiliary aviation training. This course is designed to train aviators to first recognize, and then recover from Spatial Disorientation. This training has been a long time component of the military flight training.

Who May Attend

Applicants MUST be in the Auxiliary aviation program with an internet e-mail account capable of receiving attachments.  To benefit most from this training, therefore, the e-mail address must be included in Block #22 of the Short-Term Resident Training Request prior to approval. District Commodores should screen for candidates to ensure best match (for quota) prior to appointment and future potential for assignment to aviation duty staff position. Emphasis is on continuity and experience. No civilian contractors are authorized to attend. (First priority is given to pilots, second priority is given to crew.)
